BIO
Karim Elmahmoudi has written music ranging from solo piano pieces to large scale symphonic music. His work has been described as epic, bold, dramatic, evocative, colorful, and atmospheric. Mr. Elmahmoudi is based in Los Angeles, California, where he composes for concert stage, film, video games, and new media.
After having studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music composition extension program and privately with Alexis Alrich for five years, Mr. Elmahmoudi attended the prestigious University of Southern California Film Scoring graduate program (SMPTV) where his professors included Hollywood legends Christopher Young, Pete Anthony, Richard Kraft, John Frizzell, Jeff Atmajian, Joel McNeely, and Lennie Moore. He also studied with renowned film orchestrator, Conrad Pope, whose credits include Star Wars (Episodes I-III), Jurassic Park, The Matrix Trilogy, and Troy, amongst many other films.
Karim has worked with Christopher Young on "Spiderman 3" and "Sleepwalking" where he did additional orchestrations and orchestral takedowns. He has also worked with Michael Giacchino on an episode of the hit television show "Lost" where his tasks included arranging, notating, and conducting several cues for the show. In addition, Mr. Elmahmoudi was awarded the BMI Outstanding Achievement Award in 2007.
Mr. Elmahmoudi pulls his musical inspiration from some of his favorite composers such as John Williams, James Newton Howard, John Powell, Elliot Goldenthal, Michael Giacchino, and Bernard Herrmann.

February, 2010: Currently working on a commission for the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra to be premiered in their 2010-2011 concert season. In addition, Karim is working on the original soundtrack to the film "David and Fatima" where he provided additional music.
January 29, 2010:Brian Lally's award winning feature film, 8.5 Hours has its European theatrical premiere in Dublin, Ireland. Karim wrote the score to this film. This seering drama tells the story of four employees of a successful Dublin company as they desparately try to regain the promise of the Irish boom period known as "The Celtic Tiger".
January, 2010: Completed some additional orchestrations on upcoming Star Wars game to be released in 2011.
January, 2010: Rampage Superstar,Michael Ballaschk's intense film featuring a score by Karim Elmahmoudi is showing in Los Angeles film festivals.
September, 2009: Scoring session for "8.5 Hours", a film written and directed by Brian Lally with a score by Karim. Samples available in the "Audio" section of this website.
May 17, 2009: The Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra premiers Karim's orchestral arrangement of Rachmaninoff's Prelude in B minor.
